The World's Most Luxurious Cocktails

Bar Hemingway at The Paris Ritz
On a hot summer’s night, a cold and freshly muddled cocktail can’t go wrong.
But at $17, the current going rate in the CBD, you’d think the Oz bars had gone a bit over the top.
Well, once you hear this list you might not think so anymore.
From gold leaf and caviar, to rubies and pearls, posh cocktails have been sashaying among the elite set for some time.
But for our purposes, we skipped the glam and hype and instead sought to deliver you the best age and quality for price. Elegance often comes in modest packaging.
First off our list we would like to extol the graces of the classic Ritz Side Car, served at the Bar Hemingway at the Paris Ritz. Cesar Ritz served himself this strong concoction in the 1920s, setting a trend among the flappers and high rollers of the time.
The charm of this thing lies in the quality of the ingredients.
Composed of a dose of the gorgeous Ritz Reserve cognac from 1830, cointreau and a squeeze of lemon juice, it provides the amazing opportunity to drink liquor saved from the Napoleonic Era. At $950 it is an apex of glory in itself.
Oh, but the English are not to be outdone, claiming their crown with their shimmering and bubbly Diamond cocktail. Starting with a firmly planted sugarcube dyed with angostura bitters, this classic is given the works, topped with a heavy splash of Charles Heidsick Vintage 2001 champagne and Remy Martin Louis XII cognac mixed (bottles of this cognac retail at $1,750 per bottle). Last but not least, we couldn’t resist, the decadent golden vessel and its contents are graced with a choice of diamonds or rubies. The host of this cocktail, The Piano Bar at London’s Sheraton Park Tower Hotel, suggests that depending on the type and carat of the gemstone chosen, the cocktail’s worth could rise to 10,000 pounds. You wouldn’t want to drink this one too quickly!
The Yanks must now join the fray to join this war of mixology.
Sticking with the grain of gems, the menu for this lounge’s precious delights is served to guests in a leather-bound necklace case at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut. Their top drop is the $3,000 Sapphire Martini, served with the client’s choice of top quality gin, blue curacao and a dash of vermouth. The glass is rimmed with blue sugar and garnished with a sterling-silver pick holding a pair of platinum-mounted diamond and sapphire earrings.
