Susan Boyle, time to burn out and not fade away
I've always been rather skeptical of the 'genuine' hype surrounding Susan Boyle ever since she was popularized as one of the most-viewed internet video memes of all time. But it wasn't just the hype I was skeptical of, it was how genuine the response was, from a world that is normally shallow and apathetic to anyone who doesn't fit the 'superstar' mold. She herself is a bit of an anti-hero really, which is kind of cool (if you can relate to it)... How? Well, she is a heavy dismisser of compliments and always endeavours to evade the limelight when possible - contrary to any other rising starlet out there - she seems to not give a damn. So yeah, good for her for reaching the deserved level of success that she has currently achieved, but at the same time, you have to question as to whether or not she really wants it. I just read an article that stated that Boyle was thinking about quitting... It'd probably be more dignifying, for her sake, to burn out rather than fade away. If she did bail on her fame now, she'd always be remembered as that average woman who defied her stigma. But if she were to continue on this path of internet and TV fame, she may be forgotten in no less than 10 years. Anyway, it's something to think about and somewhat of a delicate topic... What are your thoughts?
