Why poor hygiene freaks me out
I 'borrowed' this from one of my client's blogs, but I think that the message being presented here is crystal clear. I'm quite revolted by poor hygiene in public eateries, bars, nightclubs and cafes... I would personally advocate mandatory food safety training for bartenders - might teach them something... Anyway, have a read!
"Hygiene is imperative in any food or drink industry, to ignore this
priority means that the health and safety of your patrons is at
jeopardy. Not only this, but so is your reputation as an employee or as
a business.
In reading some articles on the said topic of hygiene and the importance of Food Safety Training,
we came across this article as presented on a news site in Milwaukee,
America. Apparently bartenders at a popular nightclub had not been
washing their hands of their glasses when serving alcohol. Appallingly,
the results of a bacteria test concluded that there was in fact an
amount in excess of 7540 different strains of bacteria inside the glass
as opposed to the normal 10 strains that show up as a result of washing
hands and serving with clean glasses.
Not only is this shocking and vulgar, but it also poses as a health risk to loyal bar patrons. At etrainu, Our Qld RSA courses
and Food Safety Training courses are designed to teach students the
importance of hygiene in the hospitality industry. You may think that
serving a drink with unwashed hands is harmless because you're simply
pouring a drink, but the result is quite the opposite.
Anyway, it's an interesting case study nonetheless and if you want to read the full article you can find it here: http://www.todaystmj4.com/features/dirtydinning/42035442.html
